In Greek culture, sewing has been an essential skill for survival that’s passed down by generations and deeply rooted in community. With each handmade garment, a generational story is told. Our story began with Yiayia Athena in a modest, seaside village who taught her daughters and granddaughters that bringing a piece of fabric to life with a needle and thread is the ultimate act of love.
HOME IN MONTREAL
Mavra’s mother learned from hers and brought the techniques of European craftsmanship to the tailoring industry of her new home, Montreal. Although having worked in the tailoring industry from a young age, her first designs were made for those she loved most - her own daughters.
PURSUIT OF PASSION
Mavra watched her mom work her magic and absorbed what she could. Starting small, she created dresses for her dolls, igniting her passion for design. With time, Mavra went on to study pattern design and illustration, where she fell in love with the way that fabric naturally reveals its elegance and flow when handled with precision and care. Specializing in draping, corsetry and couture construction, Mavra became entranced with the Victorian corset, deepening her appreciation for the historical craft and structure. In constant pursuit of growth, Mavra continued developing her skills in New York, where she trained in tailoring under the London School of Fashion.

Mavra’s unique combination of timeless techniques define her design style, connecting her to her lineage and her clients all at once. The bespoke and custom couture created in the atelier highlights the beauty of something made by hand, not only for a special day, but to last forever.
